Its main African export destinations are: Zambia (2.3%), Mozambique (2.2%) and Zimbabwe (2.1%), while the top internal import origins Nigeria (2.7%), Mali (1.7%) and Angola (1.7%). 

Overseas it focuses its export on China (18%), United Kingdom (9.6%) and United States (7.2%). It also imports chiefly from China (18%) and United States (6.6%), but Germany (9.0%) as well represents a key South African import origin.
