Customer: Garret Cameron, Managing Partner, GR C3I

GR C3I is a boutique firm providing highly personalized, confidential consulting services to small, medium and large businesses. Key services for the firm include: business, market and competitive intelligence consulting; full strategic planning assistance; counterintelligence; and trade secret protection consulting.


Challenge

Clients come to GR C3I with one thing in mind: a need for information. GR C3I is challenged with uncovering business intelligence and counterintelligence information on its clients' competitors, potential business partners and possible acquisition targets.

With little information in hand, GR C3I was looking to acquire information on a particular company that was for sale and needed to identify potential buyers of the company. The only information the client was able to offer for the search was that the opposing bidder was a public company with a subsidiary in the same location as the company they were looking to purchase. The client was also vaguely aware of the competitor's industry. The client needed to know what they were up against and just how strong the opposing bidder would be.


Solution

First, he used the company list search to find companies with headquarters in the relevant region and appropriate industry. Then he was able to determine which of the companies listed were public, and which were not, allowing him to identify the opposing bidding company. The SkyMinder credit section gave him more detailed information at a lower rate than the other services, and the executive bio portion of SkyMinder aided him in determining pertinent information on the executives and how they would react in a bidding situation.
